Narmada Bachao Andolan leader Medha Patkar says she is not a “romanticist” who opposes development but believes industrialisation must create jobs and end hunger. “We are for industrialisation, but industries which will be labour intensive,” she told Karan Thapar on Devil’s Advocate. Patkar refused to comment on whether her agitation against the Sardar Sarovar Dam had failed. “Two and half lakh people would only be drowned and not done justice if the dam height is increased,” she said. "I have no regrets or second thoughts on opposing the dam."
