The Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi is caught in a quota controversy. The SC/ST Commission has asked the institute to review the expulsion of 12 reserved category students. IIT-Delhi was asked to review the expulsion after its Director Prof Surendra Prasad met commission chairman Buta Singh on Tuesday. The students claim they are being discriminated against because they are from the reserved category.
The government had announced that it would start six new IITs by July 2008.
