The court cited the case of emperor Akbar who banned meat for six months in every year in Gujarat and himself abstained from non-vegetarian food on certain days of the week out of respect for his Hindu wife.
The court noted that a short, nine-day restriction wouldn’t impact non-vegetarians or meat traders.
