Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has stepped into the debate on judicial appointments and said the time has come for introspection to ensure that judicial appointments at all levels live up to exacting standards. His appeal comes just two days after CJI KG Balakrishnan recommended that Justice Soumitra Sen of the Calcutta High Court be impeached for financial misconduct.
The Chief Justice of India has recommended the removal of the judge.
