
Hundreds of goats providing wool for Kashmir's famous Pashmina shawls have died and many face starvation due to heavy snow in Ladakh region where they live, say officials. About 150,000 goats graze on pastures near the border with China where temperatures plunge to as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius.
Stocks of winter fodder provided by the govt have already been exhausted.
