IBNLiving: Anti-obesity drug Rinomabant to be banned

It was a blockbuster drug, but Rinomabant. An anti-obesity pill sold in India under the brand name Riobant and Rimoslim is on its way out. The drug, produced by Sanofi Aventis, has led to severe side effects in about 20 per cent of patients with many displaying depression, anxiety and suicidal tendencies. The Drug controller General of India has now asked manufacturers to suspend its production.
