About 80 students affiliated to the Students Federation of India, with help from local hooligans, allegedly beat up boarders of the Medical College Democratic Students Association in an attempt to forcefully occupy the rooms. The SFI activists were claiming that 27 rooms at the hostel belonged to them while others pointed out that they had not applied for the same on time.
